The ladyamherst pheasant or Chinese copper pheasant, is a bird belonging to the genus of ruffed pheasants. In 1828, the wife of the then governor of India, Lady Sarah Amherst, brought two male ladyamherst pheasants to Europe. Because of the pheasant's beautiful appearance, they were named after the lady.
