The mineral fluorspar or fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride with the chemical formula CaF2. Fluorite has a cubic crystal system and it belongs to the halide minerals. The names fluorite and fluorspar are derived from the Latin fluere, meaning "to flow". Fluorite is said to be a protective and stabilising stone, increasing self-confidence and helping to bring structure to our lives. The stone gives insight into limiting behavioural and thinking patterns and repressed feelings, and has an emotionally stabilising effect.
